Mechanic Visit
This week we had a mechanic visit The SML Hub. We weren’t sure what to expect, but it exceeded all our hopes!
Motivated by the interests of one young person, their curiosity ended up engaging half the Hub, with every single person in attendance because they wanted to be.
Paul generously gave his time for free and shared his vast knowledge and experience with such humility and openness. He started by demonstrating how to check valves and tyres for leaks and punctures using water, and everyone had a go. From there, they moved on to pressurising the tyres.
He then showed them how to check oil and water. He explained where everything is under the bonnet, essential skills for their driving tests, which gave real-life context and meaning to it all.
Paul stayed for a Q&A, and the questions were fantastic! Some other young people overheard how interesting the discussion was even joined in.
What a testament to the SML model!
