SML Hub January 2026
What an exciting few weeks it has been at SML Hub as we celebrated our one year anniversary this week!
The energy in the community has been fantastic.
We have been deepening our connections, learning more about ourselves and each other, and continuing to shape the kind of community we want to be part of.
The young people put so much thought and care into how we work together. They actively consider each other and look for ways to build a strong, connected culture.
We have spent time exploring the process of problem solving in detail, looking at how challenges arise, how they can be approached constructively, and how we maintain fairness and accountability within a democratic community.
Alongside this, those working towards their Duke of Edinburgh Award have been planning future activities and preparing carefully for the practical elements ahead.
There is also a real sense of momentum building as we prepare for our Open Day on 17th March. The young people are developing ideas, thinking about how they want the Hub to be experienced by visitors, and reflecting on what SML Hub genuinely means to them.
The success of SML Traitors last term, which ran over four weeks, has led to calls for a second version, while we have been exploring this, the game of Werewolves has more than filled that space, encouraging persuasive argument, critical thinking, observation and good natured competition. It is always powerful to see how play becomes a vehicle for communication skills, confidence and connection.
Overall, it has been a period of growth, reflection and energy, and a strong reminder of the strength in community.
